Taste of Dublin was a sell out success for the fourth year running as it welcomed over 30,000 visitors to the Iveagh Gardens from all over the country. The gourmet gastro-festival which celebrates the very best food and drink the country has to offer was drenched in sunshine over the weekend. Organisers are already planning the event for 2010.
Twenty of the Capital’s finest restaurants including Bang Café, Chapter One, China Sichuan, Diep Le Shakur, Jaipur, L’Ecrivain, Locks, Rolys Bistro, Town Bar and Grill and the Unicorn, got the opportunity to interact with the public and fellow restaurateurs in an idyllic setting.
International celebrity chefs including Antony Worrall Thompson and Gino D’Acampo showcased their culinary skills in the Drumms Chef Demonstration Theatre along with Irish chefs Rachel Allen, Kevin Dundon and Neven Maguire, Ross Lewis, Derry Clarke, and Oliver Dunne.
A super line up of live music entertained visitors on two stages, as legendary 80’s tribute band Springbreak played to a sell out crowd on Saturday afternoon.
This year, Taste of Dublin hosted the first Beer Naturally Academy. Other new features included 'Taste of Thailand' the Edward Dillon Wine Experience, the Brown Thomas VIP Suite, the Tikki Bar and the Taste BBQ hosted by Michelin Star Chef Derry Clarke. The Dundon Family food feature was also a new addition where renowned chef Kevin Dundon showed visitors how easy it is to put great food on the family table.
